Tetley has reformulated its fruit teas to boost their fruitiness in response to consumer demand for stronger flavours. The company's customer marketing controller Simon Attfield said its research showed that taste was more important than aroma and refreshment to consumers. "One of the biggest disappointments for consumers is when the flavour of fruit teas doesn't live up to the promise of aroma and fruit depicted on-pack," he said. "We have reblended our fruit teas for an exceptional experience to the senses." Rolling out now, the super fruity new blends are Summer Berry Merry, Sweet Cranberry, Blackberry Bounce and Lemon Tangerine, which come in packs of 20 bags. Sampling activity in the autumn will back the new recipes. Tetley would also be ­producing larger packs of green teas following in-house research that discovered that 20% of consumers buy almost 12 packs of ­special tea a year, said Attfield.
