June 30, 1900. The monthly fair, held at Preston on Tuesday, was largely attended by farmers and buyers, representing the principal provision merchants and cheese factors of the town and district. The pitch consisted of 129 lots, comprising 1,803 cheeses, these figures showing a decrease as compared with the corresponding show last year of 1 lot and 19 cheeses. The whole of the pitch was disposed of in about an hour, with prices equal to the extreme rate obtained at the May fair.
