February 2, 1901. The question of the illegal forms of trading, especially in tea lotteries, was considered at Bristol and District Grocers' Association meeting. Several members advocated the matter be dealt with vigorously in order that dishonest forms of competition might be lessened, and in some cases stopped, and thus enable the honest trader to have a fair field in competition. Councillor Shirley introduced the question of the illegal sale of margarine, and pointed out that the chief evasion of the law was in some localities due to apathy of local authorities. {{COUNTERPOINT }}
