An imaginary city, once ruined by evil and now run by seductive super-heroines who use coffee to uphold justice, is the rather bizarre premise for Lavazza's new £1.5m advertising campaign and 2007 calendar. Now in its 15th year, the calendar has been created to suggest that a good espresso can add power to everyday life. It carries images of the heroines, who have names such as Pussycat and Ice Girl, dressed in figure-hugging outfits and holding a cup of coffee.

Sales and marketing director David Rogers said the seductive theme of the calendar reflected the premium, Italian values of the coffee brand and would drive home the Lavazza brand message 'The most incredible espresso experience'.
