Beef producers have taken their call for on-shelf separation of beef of different origins to Westminster.

Almost 100 MPs representing all the major political parties have signed an Early Day Motion backing the physical separation of meat from different countries of origin on supermarket shelves. It has been fronted by Jim Paice MP.

The National Beef Association says the multiples are still flouting EU rules governing the on-shelf presentation of meat from different countries of origin. It means British producers lose out to cheaper imported meat because consumers don't spot the difference.
