The Co-operative Food has strengthened its executive team by creating four new roles.
Andrew Mann, currently director of insight and loyalty at Sainsbury’s, will join the food group as customer director – a new position – that will see him reporting directly to chief executive Steve Murrells.
Mann has previously led brands in Cadbury, Schweppes, Coca-Cola and Centrica and held marketing director positions in Tesco including Clubcard and strategy and Innovation.
A further two new executive roles have also been created as part of the stores, service delivery and supply chain team, which will be led by chief operating officer Sean Toal.
Cheryl Marshall has moved across from her unity group position to fill the service delivery director role, while Mark Hale, previously director of food IS and supply chain, has become supply chain director, extending his current supply chain accountabilities to include logistics depots.
Howard Reed, who has over 20 years’ experience in IT, mostly with Asda but more recently New Look, has also stepped into the new position of food chief information officer.
Murrells said: “Everyone within the new food executive team will have shared responsibilities and clear and aligned accountabilities for driving the performance of our food business, concentrating on delivering quality and value for our customers and an enhanced experience at store level.”
Yesterday the Co-op group said like for like food sales had risen by 2.2% over the Christmas trading period.
