The East India Company brand is being brought back to life this week after lying dormant for more than a century.
A flagship fine food emporium opens today on Conduit Street in Mayfair, selling high-end produce largely from the UK. Products will be available online later this month.
The man behind the re-launch is UK-based Indian entrepreneur Sanjiv Mehta, who acquired EIC in 2005. He and other private investors have ploughed almost £10m into the business and plan to expand its fine foods offer internationally.
