Exports of Label Rouge Scottish salmon to France increased by 21% in 2004.
The new figures, released by Scottish Quality Salmon, show that a total of 6,761 tonnes were exported to France during 2004, compared with 5,592 tonnes the previous year.
Label Rouge is a premium label that carries considerable prestige in French cuisine.
Brian Simpson, SQS chief executive, said: “This is the sixth consecutive year that exports of Label Rouge Scottish salmon have increased to France.”
Scottish Quality Salmon remains the only non-French food to meet the quality scheme’s rigorous standards.
