Warehousing and distribution of Marks & Spencer's imported wines and spirits is being handled by Tibbett & Britten's rail connected Daventry International Distribution Centre under a new three-year open-book agreement. As well as bonded and conventional storage, the centre picks and delivers wines and spirits six days a week to seven large M & S distribution centres for supply to stores in the UK and overseas. It has space for 3,825,000 bottles, ranging from 5cl miniature spirits to champagne magnums, and anticipates dealing with 4m cases year. All orders are case picked on to pallets and checked prior to loading with a label pick process connected to M & S distribution centres for pre-advice delivery. Trials have begun of an e-commerce application enabling suppliers anywhere in the world to use the web to check the status of their stockholding at any time, and thereby manage it to the multiple's specifications. It is linked to Tibbett's booking-in system which enables suppliers to see at a glance which delivery slots are available, and to time the arrival of their consignments accordingly. {{FOCUS SPECIALS }}
