Food is sourced via a number of means: trade shows, competitive shopping, direct approach, product development with existing producers and through our team discovering new items on their holidays and travels.
Quality is important, as well as a good story, for example items that are produced by traditional methods. Where possible we also look at exclusivity and retail theatre. An increasing number of people are looking at taste as opposed to price. Our latest addition has been Magic Monkey pure organic pomegranate juice. It has been a wonderful success, given the recent highlighting of the benefits of the pomegranate.
People long for products that they have come across on their travels. Also, with London being a multicultural society, we have customers who are looking for a genuine taste of home. To differentiate ourselves we try and offer amazing services: our fish and meat departments can trim, clean and dress items to order - skills that are increasingly hard to find.
