But despite the poor Christmas trading, the company’s sales for the 28 weeks to January 8 rose 9.5% to £119.7m.
The company also recorded a 270% increase on its products sold by third parties.

Thorntons has reported a decline in half-year profits, blaming the harsh winter weather for hitting sales. Pre-tax profits fell 8.5% to 8.3m for the 28 weeks ended 8 January, down from 9.1m for the previous year.
