Chocolate manufacturer Thorntons said it has received additional offers since its proposed MBO announced a fortnight ago.

At the company’s AGM chairman John Thornton added that like-for-like sales at its own stores had improved since September.

He also noted that the group had continued to gain new product listings in other retailers as part of its strategy to widen distribution.

But Thornton added that the outcome for the first half-year would depend upon Christmas trading.
