The country's top food retailers and processors have all pledged their support for the industry's new chicken assurance scheme. Only companies that meet "world leading" standards relating to food safety, bird health, welfare and traceability will be allowed to put the NFU's new farm assurance mark on their products. The scheme will be policed by a newly formed independent company called Assured Chicken Production.
