Imperial Tobacco has secured the contract to distribute Marlboro cigarettes in the UK. Philip Morris International has entered into a five-year contract following termination of its agreement with Rothmans. Imperial international affairs manager Jacqueline Smithson said: "Marlboro is a global brand and has great potential for growth in the UK. It also complements the Imperial portfolio extremely well." The addition of Marlboro boosts Imperial's market share from about 40% to 46%, which Smithson claimed would now make it the UK's number one tobacco supplier. The deal will take effect from September 12. Financial details are not being disclosed but the company is expected to earn a fee on every pack distributed. {{NEWS }}
