Whole Foods Market has turned its attention to its own label range as it continues the recruitment process for the opening of its first UK store next year.

The company is seeking a new private label buyer who would "launch our own label product range", and also a private label packaging designer, according to a job ad in The Grocer.

Responsibilities for the buyer would include sourcing and negotiating contracts for locally produced products, and negotiating direct sourcing of products such as nuts and oils as well as organic fruit, vegetables, meat and cheese.

The packaging designer would be responsible for the design and printing of all UK own label packaging and labels, based on its existing design guidelines in the US, and would also direct photography for UK-specific items.

Whole Foods Market's first UK venture will be a 75,000 sq ft store situated on Kensington High Street in London, and it plans to open further large-format stores throughout the UK and Europe.
