April 7, 1950. The Minister of Food's statement in parliament on Wednesday was in the nature of an anticlimax. For several days many of the national papers had heralded an important statement which was to cover many facets of food control, but in the result there was nothing beyond an announcement that the price of butter will be raised by 4d. per lb as from May 21.That is all  for the moment, but it is believed a wide review of prices is going on, as to which something may be known when the Chancellor of the Exchequer introduces the budget on April 18. {{COUNTERPOINT }}
