Inter Link Foods, manufacturer of own label cake and pastry products, has acquired Hepworth & Whittles for £4m. Hepworth & Whittles, a small cakes manufacturer, trades as Newton House Bakery and has three national retail multiples among its customers. Inter Link Foods has three other businesses ­ Crossfield Foods, Lisa Bakery and Maid Marian Bakeries and the company is considering further acquisitions. These include exercising an exclusive option to acquire the share capital of another cake manufacturer, William Lusty, for £400,000. Announcement of the acquisition of Newton House Bakery came as Inter Link Foods reported its interim figures for the six months ending October 31, 2000. Turnover rose by 26.6% to £6.73m and profit before tax increased by 55.4% to £752,000. {{NEWS }}
