Rethink the tobacco display ban, reduce the burden of business rates and retain the needs test to promote vibrant town centres. These are three of the 10 pleas in the Association of Convenience Stores' 10-point Heart of the Community Plan launched this week.

"Over the next few months retailers across the country will carry this message to politicians," said CEO James Lowman. "Our proposals will provide direct help to shops, freeing them of restrictions that hamper their ability to invest and grow," he said.
