Ethnic food producers in the Yorkshire and Humber region launched a major export drive at the recent Anuga show in Germany.

The companies - 21 of them - have formed the Ethnic Food Action Group to encourage collaboration in the region through the sharing of best practice, marketing initiatives and efficiency savings.

Project co-ordinator Stephen Noblett said the group would develop strategies to maximise activity within the sector, improve competitiveness and promote the region as a centre of excellence for ethnic and world foods.

It is through the group umbrella that companies have launched a drive overseas, with seven represented at Anuga - including King Asia, Mill Specialist Foods, Yorkshire Cottage Bakeries and Kwoks Foods.
