Food from Britain has appointed John Adams as its new interim chief executive. He replaces David McNair who retired in May after seven years at the helm of the food marketing agency.

Adams was previously acting director general at Defra's Living Land and Seas division. This will stand him in good stead as he will be lobbying Defra and persuading ministers to support British food here and abroad.

FFB chairman Lady Sylvia Jay said Adams' appointment was timely in light of the recent foot and mouth outbreaks. "John's experience as a senior civil servant, and knowledge of change management, make him an ideal person to help move Food from Britain forward."
