Dutch grocery retailer Ahold announced a net loss of E166m for its third quarter compared with a net loss of E100m for the period last year. It attributed the increase to a loss related to acquiring shares in ICA AB.

Net sales fell 8.3% to E12bn, mainly due to the weaker US dollar, it said.

Last year Ahold divested its Spanish operations and transferred its controlling interest in Disco to Censocud.

The company has already started divesting its remaining 13 large Polish hypermarkets.
