Dutch retailer Ahold has reported a 2% increase in full-year net sales to E44.9bn (£30.5m). Net profit for 2006 rose from E769m (£522m) to E915m (£622m).

Sales rose in its Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover, Ahold Central Europe, Schitema and US Foodservice businesses, but fell in its Giant-Carlisle/Tops stores in the US.

“Ahold met the targets we set last year. Our focus in 2007 will be the ongoing implementation of the strategy we announced last November,” said Anders Moberg, president and CEO.
