The world's top chocolate manufacturers are setting up a new working group to tackle the issue of forced labour in the cocoa supply chain. The group will look at ways to shorten the supply chain by taking out the middlemen and helping producers group together to market their cocoa. Biscuit, Cake, Chocolate and Confectionery alliance boss Mike Webber said the length of the chain depressed prices and made full traceability ­ an increasingly important issue for buyers ­ almost impossible. Manufacturers have agreed to establish a certification system so they can attach "no slave labour" labels to chocolate bars. {{NEWS }}
