Belgian-based frozen vegetable specialist Ardo has bought La Compagnie Bretonne de l’Artichaut, in Brittany, France.

Ardo said the deal consolidates the company’s position as Europe’s largest supplier of frozen vegetables.

CBA had a turnover of 28m euros and produces 20,000 tonnes of vegetables a year - mainly cauliflowers and broccoli. It is part of the largest French vegetable growers organisation SICA de ST-POL-de Leon.

The agreement - which covers all the activities of CBA with the exception of their canning activity - includes the purchase of all CBA shares held by SICA, and the supply contracts of fresh vegetables from the production areas of SICA de ST-POL.
