Australian retail giant Cole Myers has announced a restructure of its business following the news its apparel and merchandise activities dragged down half-year profits (The Grocer, March 24, p12). The Australian retail giant will split its operating businesses into two major groups, Food & Liquor and Apparel & General Merchandise, with effect from May 1. The Food & Liquor Group will comprise CML's current Food & Liquor businesses which have annual sales of $14.2bn from 1,260 stores. The businesses included in the Apparel & General Merchandise Group are Myer Grace Bros, Target, Kmart, Officeworks, Megamart and Kauto. Sales from this group are $9.772bn per year from 614 stores in Australia and New Zealand. {{NEWS }}
