The Scottish Grocers' Federation (SGF) recently submitted our response to the Scottish government's consultation on tobacco display regulations. The draft regulations proposed in Scotland set out a different and more restrictive approach to display than in other UK administrations, with the end result being Scottish retailers getting a raw deal.
SGF understands the need to stop young people smoking. However, good regulation should be based on robust evidence, which a tobacco display ban is not.
SGF is calling for parity with other UK administrations and urges the Scottish government to reconsider its draconian regulations.
John Drummond, chief executive, SGF
