Boots has ventured into virgin territory in its new c-store format with a ramped up grocery offer and news and magazines - a first for the high street chain.

The first new ‘Work Convenience’ format store, in Holborn, London, stocks a range of New Covent Garden soups, four pasta-based microwaveable ready meals from Geest under the All Good Things label, and a range of snacks, sandwiches, drinks, yogurts and fresh fruit.

The London Evening Standard and a selection of magazines are also being trialled. More than 100 other stores are suitable for conversion in high footfall sites with an affluent customer base should the concept prove successful, said a spokesman. “For now, we’re seeing how the grocery offer goes.”
