British American Tobacco is closing its factories in the UK and Ireland with the loss of 600 jobs.

Approximately 530 jobs are expected to go at the group’s Southampton factory which makes Lucky Strike, State Express 555, Dunhill and Rothmans.

A further 66 jobs will be lost at its factory in Dundalk, Ireland.

BAT said that production would be moved to its existing facilities in Singapore, South Korea, Poland and Romania.
