British American Tobacco has reported a 5% increase in nine-month sales to £7.251bn, on profit up 2% at £1.944bn.

It added that volumes of its four top global cigarette brands Kent, Dunhill, Lucky Strike and Pall Mall, rose 16% during the period.

Jan du Plessis, chairman of British American Tobacco, said: The growth in volume, revenue and profit for the nine months shows that British American Tobacco is on track for a good year.”
