Britvic is to restructure its Irish business against a backdrop of declining sales in the country.

The soft drinks giant said the Republic of Ireland represented a "difficult environment" and that local sales had dropped 5% over the past year. Conversely, total group sales at the Tango maker were up more than 14.6% to £1.14bn.

Volume sales for carbonates were up 10%, outperforming market growth of just 2.1% for carbonates in the UK, with Britvic citing the launch of Mountain Dew Energy as a factor.

Volumes in its still drinks portfolio rose 3.5% over the past quarter.
