Sports-themed restaurant chain The Sports Cafe is to extend its brand further into the retail market with the launch of microwaveable burgers. Produced by the group's subsidiary, Titan Foods and Drinks, the newcomers will join the chain's eponymous barbecue ribs and chicken wings in Waitrose stores next week. The original range is also available in selected Spar c-stores. Two of the most popular restaurant menu options quarter pounder variants with Monterey Jack cheese or bacon are launching initially, but others may follow (rsp: #1.99). Cooking involves putting the whole pack in the microwave and heating for just two minutes thanks to a patented process and special packaging developed in conjunction with microwave snack specialist Eatwell. The company claims they avoid the usual poor results of soggy microwaved bread, and give consumers an almost toasted bun. {{MARKETING }}
