MD Howard Jones said the fascia would be launched when the chain opened its 15th store, in Sale, at the end of February.
He said: “Neighbours…locally yours emphasises the local feel of our stores and products and is a bit less of a mouthful than the old name.”
Jones added that the company, ranked 47 in The Grocer Top 50, was in an “aggressively acquisitive” phase. It could take on a batch of up to 20 stores at one time and is to talk to Tesco about the possibility of buying a group of its Dillons stores.
It would also like to speak to any Nisa chains in the area that were considering selling up, he said.
Meanwhile new ‘locally yours’ stores would have slight changes to the interior such as coloured backheader boards to take the Neighbours image upmarket, said Jones.
The Neighbours Food & Drink Stores fascia would be retained for existing stores, he added.
