Camelot has won the licence to operate the National Lottery from 2009 to 2019.

The company, which has run the lottery since it was launched in 1994, fought off competition from Indian lottery operator Sugal & Damani.

It has already promised to launch a World Lottery draw with an annual jackpot of £250m, increase lottery terminals from 26,300 to 27,600 and roll out its Fast Pay initiative, which allows shoppers to buy tickets at supermarket checkouts, to a further 11 retail groups.
