Ferrero Rocher has earmarked a £4m TV spend to modernise its image and highlight its new collection of chocolate varieties.

The commercial for the Ferrero Collection of chocolates, launched in September, airs in December and will target 35 to 50-year-old women. It will run until Christmas Eve on ITV, Channel 4 and satellite channels. "Rocher has an iconic status," said a spokeswoman. "But the old ads focused on formal occasions that were out of step with the attitudes of younger consumers."

The new ad features younger partygoers plucking chocolates from the Ferrero Rocher pyramid of chocolates. The Collection includes classic, coconut and dark chocolates in three pack sizes, including a Christmas-tree shaped box with 15 chocolates. A 32-chocolate box at £6.99, and a £9.99 box with 48 chocolates complete the range.
