Canadian convenience store operator Alimentation Couche-Tarde has announced strong results for its second quarter, with a sales increase of 155.3% to CAD 2.39bn ($1.8bn) from CAD 937.5m (($726.2m) for the same quarter in 2003.

The company states that the strong results are mainly due to Circle K’s contribution for the quarter.

In the US sales totalled CAD 1.80bn ($1.39bn), and in Canada sales amounted to CAD 590.6m ($457.4m), an increase of 10%.

The company is expected to announced some deals to buy small chains, according to media reports.
