Carrefour’s full year group sales rose by 4.2% to E81.4bn, while sales outside France increased by 8.3%.

Like-for-like sales at its French hypermarkets in the final quarter were down by 0.1% compared with a rise of 3.6% over the first nine months of the year.

At its convenience stores in France, same-store sales increased by 3.1% for the quarter.

The company said: “We are in a position to set the agenda on price and to win market share in our French hypermarkets on a consistent basis.”
