Half the independent retailers shopping at cash and carry depots for booze go in with a list but leave with something entirely different. Research carried out by Bass Take Home into the shopping habits of independent retailers at C&Cs "reinforces our confidence that big brand messages, big displays are the correct route for us," said Scott Wilson, external communications manager. Bass interviewed 1,000 independent retailers at C&C checkouts across the country and found 82% shopped from a list but half changed their mind in the depot. They are also buying bigger packs of beer in response to customer demand. The findings are good news for brewers and wholesalers said Wilson: "If suppliers and wholesalers work hard to develop eyecatching displays, it pays off." And price was not always the determining factor, added Wilson. {{NEWS }}
