French retailer Casino is installing new hi-tech replenishment systems in a bid to improve service levels and drive down stock levels at depots. Casino France chief information officer Jean-Luc Galzi said Casino was setting up an inventory optimisation system with JDA Software that will help it manage its supply chain more effectively and produce more accurate forecasts and purchase orders. The partnership will initially focus on Casino's depots in France, but could be extended to other regions where Casino operates, such as south America, Asia, central Europe and the US, said Galzi. "If the project succeeds and the return on investment is proven, the subsidiaries will probably decide to adopt the solutions themselves. To maintain our competitive edge, it's essential for us to provide the highest levels of customer service while reducing costs through improved supply chain efficiencies and balanced stock levels." Casino has almost 6,000 stores in France and 30 distribution centres, which will go live with the JDA system in January next year. {{NEWS }}
