Oddbins' French owner is planning a major assault on the multiples from the new year.
Castel aims to sell more of its branded portfolio in the UK.
The drinks giant, which previously used Lane & Tatham to sell its brands, insists retailers will be able to get a different wine proposition to Castel's chains which include Nicolas in the capital.
Castel's UK commercial director Malcolm McDonald said: "Most work will be with the major multiples in recognition of the fact that branded wines are where the market is going and this is not necessarily the direction Oddbins wants to take."
