Wal-Mart is joining with Chinese trading conglomerate CITIC Pacific to open hundreds of stores across China in the next five years. Wal-Mart already has a JV with Pacific’s parent company CITIC Corp, which currently operates one store in Nanjing.

Separately, Wal-Mart is now working with 57 suppliers to ship RFID-tagged goods to three distribution centres servicing 104 Wal-Mart stores and 36 Sam’s Club outlets. A raft of other suppliers are also set to come on board.
