Labour MP Gwyneth Dunwoody has relaunched her campaign to outlaw large retailers from trading on Christmas Day. The MP for Crewe and Nantwich, who promoted a Private Member's Bill on Christmas trading in the last parliament, presented a petition to the Commons this week with 150,000 signatures supporting her campaign. Shopworkers' union Usdaw will lobby backbench MPs who won the chance to present a Private Member's Bill on Thursday to take on Dunwoody's Bill. Although it enjoyed wide support from MPs, it failed to pass its third reading before parliament was dissolved. {{NEWS }}
