Retailers and farmers are losing patience as the drawn out wait for a trading code of practice looks set to drag on into the autumn. On Wednesday the "final" version was sent by the OFT to the new secretary of state for trade and industry Patricia Hewitt. Hewitt can either approve the code and publish it or send it back to the OFT for further consultation. The spokeswoman said there was no statutory time limit or target date for the decision. NFU marketing director Helen Lo said: "Retailers and ourselves are very frustrated. The consultation has taken months of effort but there appears to no desire at the DTI to see this process through to conclusion." {{NEWS }}
