Australian grocery retailer Coles Myer, has said its group sales were up by 17% for its first half year to A$18.3bn.

Like-for-like sales saw a strong increase of 4.9%, while its food and liquor division increased by 5.8% with comparative sales ahead by 3.8%.

Elsewhere in Australia, convenience store operator 7-Eleven is preparing a new marketing offensive to push forward its strength in the country.

The company plans to focus on the development of more 7-Eleven private brand products for its 355 Australian stores.
