Consumer confidence remained healthy in October, with strong food and drink sales contributing to continued retail sales growth said the British Retail Consortium. October saw like-for-like retail sales growth of 6%, up from 5.7% growth in September. The rate of sales growth improved from 8.1% in September to 8.6% in October. The BRC said food and drink sales growth for the month had been driven by price inflation and seasonal promotions, particularly during Halloween and half-term. Christmas confectionery and small gift product sales were disappointing, but there was still "scope for a good Christmas". {{NEWS }}
