Fresh produce consumption figures suggest that consumers are still not getting the government’s 5-a-day message.

TNS data produced for The Grocer shows sales of fresh produce rose 4% year-on-year to £6.8bn in the 52 weeks to April 24.

However, consumption frequently remained static at an average of 2.5 portions of fresh fruit and vegetables per person per day.
