Sir; I took great interest in reading your coverage of vending (The Grocer, February 18, p39) as an ‘obvious target’ for the government in the healthy eating debate.
I think convenience has become shorthand for junk food. But in many cases convenience can actually mean a more natural and nutritious product, such as fruit in juice pots, for example.
There are many benefits for the industry to create healthier convenience options - and not just for the vending market. If you get the balance right, healthier options allow consumers to make more informed choices.
