St Austell Brewery is ploughing £100,000 into marketing one of its ales, with the aim of creating a national brand in the on and off-trades. The Cornwall-based company hopes Tribute will extend its presence beyond its south west heartland.
Already available in the brewer's pubs, the cask conditioned beer was launched in 1999 to mark the lunar eclipse which was a major attraction for the county.
But St Austell believes the time is right to offer the 4.2% abv brew to a wider audience.
Marketing manager Marc Bishop said: "It is our ultimate aim to make Tribute the country's biggest ale from the south west within five years."
