Leading own label soft drinks supplier Crystal Drinks has called in the receivers, blaming falling margins and a delay in securing a major contract.
In the year to September 2003 Crystal Drinks sales totalled £15.3m. Roger Marsh, joint administrator at receiver PricewaterhouseCoopers, said he had received several expressions of interest in the company, which employs more than 120 staff.
Based in West Yorkshire, Crystal Drinks supplies own label soft drinks to the major multiples and energy drinks, spring water, juice and carbonated soft drinks under the Crystal, Fontana, Curries and Robertson brands to the independent sector. He added:
“Crystal Drinks has suffered in the past 12 months from falling margins and delays in securing a major new contract that would have allowed the company to benefit from its significant investment in equipment.”
