Wholesaler Dhamecha Foods is to spend £1.5m extending its Enfield depot.

Work would start in the first quarter of 2009 to add 15,000 sq ft to the 40,000 sq ft depot, chief executive Pradip Dhamecha said.

"Enfield primarily sells off-licence products, but we will expand it and offer a lot more products, particularly grocery and soft drinks," said Dhamecha.

Dhamecha is looking for a sixth depot and hopes the deflating property market will create opportunities to buy. " We are looking to grow organically rather than buying a rival," said Dhamecha.
