Diageo remains on track to report an 8% increase in full-year operating profit.

In a trading update released this morning, the drinks group said top-line growth had improved in Europe in the second half of the year, thanks to strong growth in Russia.

It reported “further outperformance” in North America and double-digit top-line growth in International and Asia Pacific.

Top-line performance had been boosted by strong growth in Scotch brands and Guinness, as well as lager brands in Africa, Diageo added.

“The strength of our brands and our broad based geographic exposure continues to drive the consistent top and bottom line organic growth and strong cash generation which are the recurring themes of Diageo's performance,” said CEO Paul Walsh.
